The Atlas is the first cervical vertebra. It’s the connection between the head and the rest of the skeleton.

For most of the horses, the atlas shows a dislocation that causes a narrowing of the cervical canal at the back of the head (occiput). Consequently pressures and micro lesions appear on different nervous structures of this area.

Furthermore the circulatory, glandular and sluggish systems can also be affected. The consequences of these chronic lesions create then different malfunctioning at the level of locomotive and organic systems.

Therefore its role is essential as it links the brain to the rest of the body. The permanent pressure on the spinal chord, the nervous, circulatory and glandular systems, that results from this connection, causes serious malfunctioning, feelings of faintness, or even serious physical or psychological deceases.

One single AtlasHorse® treatment restores this atlas dislocation. Once the Atlas back in its correct position, it definitely remains in place.
Most of the time, a change of balance happens instantaneously and the observed dissymmetry at the level of the head is corrected. The body, the neck, the ligaments and the tendons are corrected progressively. So certain changes will request from the owner special cures and a regular observation.
